You will need:
  • 250g pasta shapes
  • 1 tin tuna fish (in brine or water), drained
  • 1 small tin sweetcorn
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 75g Cheddar cheese, grated
Sauce
  • 25g butter or margarine
  • 25g plain flour
  • 250ml semi-skimmed milk
  • mixed herbs
  • seasoning

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C or gas mark 6.

  2. Boil the pasta for 10 minutes, until tender and then drain it.

  3. To make the sauce, melt the butter or margarine in a saucepan and stir in the flour so that it makes a paste. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly and the sauce will thicken. Turn down the heat and allow the sauce to simmer for 2 minutes, then add seasoning and mixed herbs.

  4. Add the pasta, tuna and vegetables to the sauce and stir the mixture together.

  5. Pour the pasta mixture into a baking dish. Sprinkle a little grated cheese over the top and bake in the oven for 20 minutes, until golden brown.

Other options

Try some smoked mackerel or a tin of crab meat for a tasty alternative.
