Ingredients
switch to imperial- 500g ready-made puff pastry
- 100g ground almonds
- 3 tbsp apple juice
- 2 red-skinned dessert apples, sliced
- 2 tbsp clear honey
- 3 heaped tbsp apricot jam
- 15g mixed chopped nuts
- 25g plain flour for rolling out the pastry
Method
Preheat the oven to 200°C or gas mark 6.
Roll out the pastry on a lightly floured table and cut it into 9cm squares.
Mix the ground almonds with apple juice and spread over the pastry leaving a 1cm border around the edge. Then arrange the slices of apple over the almond mixture and brush with warm honey.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, on a lightly greased baking tray, until the pastry is golden brown.
Finally, brush a little warm apricot jam over the apples and sprinkle with chopped nuts. These are delicious served hot or cold with a spoonful of crème fraiche or ice cream.
