A quick and simple scone recipe that's great to cook with kids

Ingredients

  • 100g self-raising flour
  • 25g margarine
  • 1 apple, grated
  • 25g cheese, grated
  • 75ml milk

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 220ÂșC or gas mark 7.

  2. Sieve the flour into a bowl and using your fingertips rub the margarine into the flour.

  3. Next, mix the grated apple and cheese into the flour.

  4. Gradually add the milk mixing thoroughly into a soft dough.

  5. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface so that it's about 2cm thick. Then using a round cutter cut out the scone shapes.

  6. Place the scones on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 12 minutes, until golden brown.
